Shapes — God's Beautiful Designs

Memory Verse "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth." — Isaiah 40:22 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn to identify circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles in God's creation.

Lesson Content

God filled His world with shapes! Let's learn about four special shapes today.

A circle is round like the sun, the moon, and an orange. God made the earth shaped like a big circle! Circles have no corners.

A square has four equal sides and four corners. A rectangle is like a stretched-out square — it has four sides too, but two are longer! Doors and books are rectangles.

A triangle has three sides and three corners. Can you think of things shaped like a triangle? A mountain peak, a slice of pizza, and a roof! God put shapes everywhere!

Hands-On Activity

Go on a shape hunt! Walk around the room and find things that are circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. Draw each shape on paper and color them different colors.

Discussion Questions

  • What shape is the sun?
  • How many sides does a triangle have?
  • Can you find a rectangle in this room?
