Colors and Patterns — God's Creative Order

Memory Verse "I have set my rainbow in the clouds." — Genesis 9:13 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn to identify colors and recognize simple patterns.

Lesson Content

God created a world full of beautiful colors! Red roses, orange sunsets, yellow sunflowers, green grass, blue sky, and purple grapes!

God put all these colors in the rainbow! After the great flood, God gave Noah a rainbow as a promise. A rainbow has red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

God also loves patterns! A pattern is something that repeats. Look at a zebra — black, white, black, white. That's a pattern! A ladybug has a dot pattern.

Let's make our own patterns! Red, blue, red, blue. Circle, square, circle, square. God put order and patterns in everything He made!

Hands-On Activity

Use colored blocks or crayons to make patterns. Try: red-blue-red-blue, then circle-square-circle-square. Draw a rainbow and color it with all the right colors in order!
