Sorting and Comparing — God's Order

Memory Verse "God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing... according to their kinds." — Genesis 1:21 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn to sort objects by size, color, and shape, and compare big and small.

Lesson Content

When God created the animals, He made them in different kinds — big animals and small animals, animals that fly and animals that swim. God is a God of order!

We can sort things too! Sorting means putting things in groups. We can sort by color — all the red things together, all the blue things together.

We can also sort by size! Big things in one group and small things in another. Which is bigger, an elephant or a mouse? God made them both!

We can sort by shape too — all the circles together and all the squares together. Sorting helps us see how God organized His wonderful world!

Hands-On Activity

Gather buttons, blocks, or toys. Sort them by color into piles. Then sort them by size — big and small. Finally sort them by shape. How many different ways can you sort them?
