Memory Verse "I have hidden your word in my heart." — Psalm 119:11 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn common sight words: the, is, and, I, a, to, God, love.

Lesson Content

Some words are used so often that we learn to know them right away — just by looking at them! These are called sight words.

Let's learn these sight words: THE, IS, AND, I, A, TO. These little words are in almost every sentence!

Here are two more special sight words: GOD and LOVE. These are two of the most important words in the Bible!

Now let's read a sentence using our sight words: 'God is love.' You just read from the Bible! 1 John 4:8 says 'God is love.' You are a reader!

Hands-On Activity

Write each sight word on a card: the, is, and, I, a, to, God, love. Practice reading each card. Then arrange the cards to make sentences: 'God is love.' 'I love God.'
