Counting to 10 — God's Gift of Numbers

Memory Verse "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." — Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn to count from 1 to 10 using objects from God's creation.

Lesson Content

God gave us numbers so we can count all the wonderful things He made! Let's count from 1 to 10 together.

1 sun, 2 eyes, 3 crosses, 4 seasons, 5 fingers! Hold up your hand and count each finger. God gave you five fingers on each hand!

6 days of creation, 7 days in a week, 8 legs on a spider, 9 planets, 10 commandments! God uses numbers in the Bible too.

Now let's count things in our room. How many chairs? How many windows? How many friends? God helps us use numbers every day!

Hands-On Activity

Count 10 small objects like buttons, blocks, or crayons. Line them up in a row and point to each one as you count. Then draw the numbers 1 through 10 on paper.

Discussion Questions

  • Can you count to 10 all by yourself?
  • How many fingers do you have on one hand?
  • What are 10 things God gave to Moses?
