Being Kind — The Golden Rule

Memory Verse "Do to others what you would have them do to you." — Matthew 7:12 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn the Golden Rule and how to treat others with kindness.

Lesson Content

Jesus taught us the most important rule for getting along with others. It is called the Golden Rule!

The Golden Rule says: 'Do to others what you would have them do to you.' That means treat people the way you want to be treated!

If you want people to be nice to you, be nice to them! If you want people to share with you, share with them! If you want people to include you, include them!

Being kind is one of the best ways to show God's love. A smile, a kind word, or sharing a toy can make someone's whole day better! God smiles when we are kind.

Hands-On Activity

Make a 'Kindness Crown' out of paper! Write or draw acts of kindness on the crown: sharing, hugging, helping, smiling, saying nice words. Wear your crown and practice being kind all day!
