Memory Verse "Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights." — Jonah 1:17 (NIV, adapted)

Learning Objective

Students will learn the number 3 and hear the story of Jonah spending three days inside a great fish.

Lesson Content

Today we are learning about the number 3! Hold up three fingers. Count them — one, two, three!

The Bible tells us about a man named Jonah. God told Jonah to go to a city and share God's message, but Jonah ran away! He got on a boat and tried to hide from God.

God sent a big storm, and Jonah ended up in the water. Then God sent a great big fish to swallow Jonah! Jonah was inside that fish for THREE days and THREE nights. While inside, Jonah prayed to God and said he was sorry. Then the fish spit Jonah out, and Jonah obeyed God!

Hands-On Activity
