Our American Symbols — One Nation Under God

Memory Verse "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." — Psalm 33:12 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn about important American symbols and what it means to be 'one nation under God.'

Lesson Content

America has many special symbols that remind us of our country. The American flag, the bald eagle, and the Statue of Liberty are some of them.

When we say the Pledge of Allegiance, we say 'one nation under God.' This means our country was built to honor God.

The Liberty Bell has a Bible verse on it! It says 'Proclaim liberty throughout all the land' from Leviticus 25:10. Our founders knew that freedom comes from God.

These symbols remind us that America is a special nation. We should thank God for our freedom and pray for our country every day.

Hands-On Activity

Draw your favorite American symbol and write why it is important. Practice saying the Pledge of Allegiance together.
