Our Leaders — From Mayors to the President

Memory Verse "I urge that prayers be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority." — 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn about different levels of government leaders and that God calls us to pray for them.

Lesson Content

Every community has leaders who help make decisions and keep things running. A mayor is the leader of a city or town.

A governor is the leader of a state. The president is the leader of our whole country, the United States of America.

These leaders make important decisions that affect all of us. They need wisdom from God to lead well.

The Bible tells us to pray for our leaders. We can pray that God gives them wisdom and helps them make good choices for everyone.

Hands-On Activity

Learn the name of your town's mayor, your state's governor, and our country's president. Draw a picture of one of them and write a prayer for them.
