Our Country — America, Land of the Free

Memory Verse "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." — 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn about the freedoms we enjoy in America and how those freedoms come from God.

Lesson Content

America is a very special country. We have freedoms that many people in the world do not have. Freedom means we can make choices about our lives.

In America, we are free to go to church and worship God. We are free to say what we think. We are free to go to school and learn.

Our founders believed that these freedoms come from God, not from the government. The Declaration of Independence says that God gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We should thank God every day for our freedoms and for our wonderful country. We can show our thankfulness by being good citizens and obeying the rules.

Hands-On Activity

Draw a picture of something you are free to do in America. Sing 'America the Beautiful' or 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee' together.
