Students will learn about Jesus as a boy and how He grew in wisdom, understanding, and love for God's Word.

Lesson Content

Jesus was once a child just like you! He grew up in the town of Nazareth with Mary and Joseph. He learned, played, and helped His family.

When Jesus was 12 years old, His family went to Jerusalem for a special holiday called Passover. On the way home, Mary and Joseph noticed Jesus was missing! They found Him in the Temple, talking with the teachers. Everyone was amazed at how much He understood about God.

Jesus said, 'Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?' Jesus loved God the Father and wanted to learn more about Him. We should want to learn about God too!

Hands-On Activity

Draw a picture of young Jesus in the Temple talking with the teachers. Write one thing you can do to grow in wisdom like Jesus did.

How can you grow in wisdom like Jesus?
Why were the teachers amazed by Jesus?
What does it mean that Jesus grew 'in favor with God and man'?
