Following Rules — Why Rules Are Good

Memory Verse "Children, obey your parents." — Colossians 3:20

Learning Objective

Students will learn why rules are important and that God wants us to follow them.

Lesson Content

Rules help keep us safe and happy! At home, we have rules like 'don't touch the hot stove' and 'hold a grown-up's hand when crossing the street.' These rules keep us safe!

God gave us rules too! God's rules help us know right from wrong. One of God's rules is to obey our parents. When we listen to our parents, we make God happy!

Rules are not mean — they are good! Rules help everyone get along. When we follow rules, we show love to God and to other people.

Hands-On Activity

Talk about rules at home and at school. Draw a picture of yourself following a rule. Practice saying 'Yes, ma'am' and 'Yes, sir.'
